The Tycoon Thing

If you take out all light, you get pure darkens, if you take out all darkness you get pure light, if you take out all the warmth from the universe, from earth, from a human being, you get pure cold, if you take out all the cold, you get pure heat...if you say you know God, then know that he is pure light, and through nothingness created you, and put you into a universe he created out of nothingness; and from light, and heat, and cold, and darkness, we were sent into, and thus, now we stumble between these elements, light, dark, cold and heat, things, because of sin, these are elements, parts to things, for all that is, are things, and we look and we touch, and we smell and we hear things, things that pass by us, away, little things and big things, just things, things that come out of us, come to us, circle around us, invade us, consume us, possess us, who is the king of things? There must be a king, the ruler of things. Before you take the thing, try the thing, because the world now has so many things, and false prophets, the flesh can no longer overcome things. We all have become little gods of things, with so many things, we no longer hear the spirit inside of us, it is saying 'Here is an error, let no man deceive you, for you have been deceived by things.' There is no more compassion, now they slew the brother, the mother; the children wait outside the hospital room for the father to die, so they can collect more things. The children of today, and tomorrow, and yesterday, go from one thing to another thing, they hate not being compensated unto their heart's desire with things, they want their life cramped with so many things, a grasshopper couldn't fit in it afterwards, let along God. And he goes to pray, to his god (and who is really his go?) and says, "I love you, but I want more things," and he takes from his neighbor, and says "I need them more than you," and a voice says, "It is easy to love those who love you, who are lovable, who give you things, that is not a perfect love (try to love the unlovable), it is a thing you need to replace something you lost, love needs no returns, no things to replace something: now the he asks for receipts, he is keeping count. Love is often a one way street and nowadays all we seem to have are two-way highways, and the preacher man says: I shall speak for, and he tells his people to vote for this man, or that man, thinking he is replacing God, speaking for God, because he wants things... not even he, can escape the dead dog, and find a live lion because he has lost the scent. Shocking defeat for US bailout; record stock dip

In a stunning vote that shocked the capital and worldwide markets, the House of Representatives on Monday defeated a $700 billion emergency rescue for the U.S. financial system, ignoring urgent warnings from President George W. Bush and congressional leaders of both parties that the economy cold nosedive without it. The Dow Jones industrials plunged nearly 800 points, the most ever for a single day.

Democratic and Republican leaders alike pledged to try again, though the Democrats said Republican lawmakers needed to provide more votes. Bush huddled with his economic advisers about a next step. The House was to reconvene on Thursday instead of adjourning for the year as planned.

Stocks began falling even before the 228-205 vote to reject the bill was officially announced on the House floor. The 777-point decline for the day surpassed the 721-point previous record, on the day after the Sept. 11, 201, terror attacks, though in percentage terms it was well short of the drops on Black Monday of October 1987 and at the start of the Depression.

In the House chamber, as a digital screen recorded a cascade of "no" votes against the bailout, Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley shouted news of the falling stocks."Six hundred points!" he yelled, jabbing his thumb downward.

Bush and a host of leading congressional figures had implored the lawmakers to pass the legislation despite loud protest from their constituents back home. Not enough members were willing to take the political risk just five weeks before an eletion.

More than two-thirds of Republicans and 40 percent of Democrats opposed the bill.

The overriding question for congressional leaders was what to do next. Congress has been trying to adjourn so that its members can go out and campaign for the election that is just five weeks away.

"The legisltion may have failed; the crisis is still with us," said the leader of the House , Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat in a news conference after the defeat.

"What happened today cannot stand," Pelosi said. "We must move forward, and I hope that the markets will take that message."

At the White House Bush said, "I'm disappointed in the vote. ... We've put forth a plan that was big because we've got a big problem." He pledged to keep pressing for a measure that Congress would pass.

Republicans blamed Pelosi's scathing speech near the close of the debate - which attacked Bush's economic policies and "right-wing ideology of anything goes, no supervision, no discipline, no regulation" of financial markets - for the vote's failure.

"We could have gotten there today had it not been for the partisan speech that the speaker gave on the floor of the House," Minority Leader John Boehner said. Pelosi's wods, the Republican said, "poisoned our conference, caused a number of members that we thought we could get, to go south."

Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., the No. 3 Republican, estimated that Pelosi's speech changed the minds of a dozen Republicans who might otherwise have supported the plan.

That was a remarkable accusation by Republicans against Republicans, said Rep. Barney Frank, a Democrat and chairman of the House Financial Services Committee: "Because somebody hurt their feelings, they decided to punish the country."

The presidential candidates kept close track - from afar.

In Colorado, Democrat Barack Obama said, "Democrats, Republicans, step up to the plate, get it done."

Republican John McCain spoke with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke before leaving Ohio for a campaign stop in Iowa, a spokeswoman said.

The legislation the administration promoted would have allowed the government to buy bad mortgages and other rotten assets held by troubled banks and financial institutions. Getting those debts off their books should bolster those companies' balance sheets, making them more inclined to lend and easing one of the biggest choke points in the credit crisis. If the plan worked, the thinking went, it would help lift a major weight off the U.S. economy that is already sputtering.

Monday's action had been preceded by unusually aggressive White House lobbying, and Fratto said that Bush had been making calls to lawmakers until shortly before the vote.

Bush and his economic advisers, as well as congressional leaders in both parties had argued the plan was vital to insulating ordinary Americans from the effects of Wall Street's bad bets. The version that was up for vote Monday was the product of marathon closed-door negotiations on Capitol Hill over the weekend.

"We're all worried about losing our jobs," Rep. Paul Ryan, Republican, declared in an impassioned speech in support of the bill before the vote. "Most of us say, 'I want this thing to pass, but I want you to vote for it - not me."'

Said Boehner, after the vote: "Americans are angry, and so are my colleagues. They don't want to have to vote for a bill like this. But I have concerns about what this means for the American people, what it means for our economy, and what it means for people's jobs. I think that we need to renew our efforts to find a solution that Congress can support." Read More...

What Makes Us Human ?

What makes us human and identifies us as distinct from other animals is our capacity to manufacture the future.

Our intelligence of itself is largely irrelevant. Since we can only guess at the mental processes of many higher intelligence mammals (such as whales and apes) it is safest to assume that the majority of humans are not inordinately more intelligent than some animal species (indeed many are arguably less so).

Humans have a kind of magical, as it must appear to an alien species, power to transform their physical environment. This practical intelligence is the defining characteristic of human history, in fact the possibility of "history" as a concept derives from the same practical capacity. With the ability and desire to change the future humans realized they required a past, that is they began to understand the concept of momentum. For other species the notion of momentum other than in a purely physical sense must be unimaginable.

What purpose would it serve to dream of new realities if you had no capacity to effect them?

The dreams, religions and myths we create all flow from this capacity to make changes to our future. These too may well then be the other half to our distinctiveness as a species. A necessary corollary to our practical intelligence.

Humans as story tellers

The artistic impulses to paint, draw, write songs and perform are the manifestation off our uniqueness as a story telling species. One that must mythologise events and create mythologies to manufacture new events. The success of human groups has to date largely been defined by those humans as the success of their own mythologies as much as any practical survival abilities. This fascination was most simply put when Christ allegedly stated that "man can not live on bread alone". As a story telling species humans require new fictions and new fiction makers to make sense of their universe and to provide comfort in the certain knowledge and fear of uncertainty.

The need for irony

It is possible that this fear has led to our ironic abilities. Maybe irony is also a distinctly human characteristic of all the animals. It seems to me that where you have a species that knows it can change the future and also knows that the present has been manufactured by both sheer luck and the previous actions of its ancestors then you will need an ironic capacity to stay psychologically balanced.

Are we better than other animals?

I remember discussing this question at length with one of my best friends. Humans have often mistaken the ability to create myths with a superior view of what is their essentially animal behavior. As William Blake said:

Nought loves another as itself,

Nor venerates another so,

Nor is it possible to thought

A greater than itself to know.

'And, father, how can I love you

Or any of my brothers more?

I love you like the little bird

That picks up crumbs around the door.'

It seems to me that much of our lives is filled with love and the need for love like this and that such a need is no different to animals. Neither is this something to be lamented by humans. It is good that we recognize the animal nature in us for what it is. That knowledge has value in itself.

Being human does not make us better than other animals however it gives us God like opportunities, that other animals do not have, to change the world and the lives of all of the other animals. No other animal has this ability. The question is how should we use it?

Wolf or Shepherd

Shall we remain a wolf in sheep's clothing or can humans finally take the the step to being a Shepherd?

The finally irony is that we will only be unique when we try to look beyond our uniqueness to the value of biological diversity. I hope the human race is destined to such superiority. Read More...

Perseverance Vs Stubbornness

PERSEVERANCE

To practice perseverance means to go on meditating, to keep on reciting mantras, to develop all the virtues of a bodhisattva, to increase the accumulation of merit and wisdom, regardless of the difficulties we experience. To do this, our precious teachers tell us, will bring us closer to the ultimate goal: enlightenment, the absolute truth, liberation, recognition of the clear light.

Our teachers also tell us, that the path is not a leisurely walk with lots of amenities while we are under way. It is made clear, that Mara is not giving up his hold on us willingly and will put all kind of obstacles in our way. But we are to disregard all that is trying to make us turn in the wrong direction and look for encouragement and guidance in the teachings of the master Buddha Shakyamuni like trusting and confident students.

We are taught that when we encounter these obstacles, we will find directions and guidance in meditation. While in meditation, we are open to recognize the solutions to our problems, open to understand the answers to our questions, our mind is able to enter areas of our awareness normally closed when we are in our normal level of consciousness.

According to our gurus it is not helpful, to try and seek for help with the aid of our intellect. The reasoning within the limits of our obscured mind will not lead us to a correct view of our existence within the dualistic world.

Our thinking is based on incorrect input coming from our limited sense and cannot bring us to valid conclusions.

This brings me to the cause of me writing this.

When considering my present position and the conditions of life, I can see clearly that it could do with some improvement.

While engaging in various activities to bring about changes in a positive sense, I was encountering seemingly endless obstacles coming up rising numbers and quality. For some time I was tempted to give up and resign myself to what apparently was my destiny. I thought that other teachings I had been exposed to previously said, that to keep on trying after so many setbacks is called "stubbornness", and that you should follow your "gut feeling" and look for an alternative. That the obstacles in my path are

Indications that what I was attempting was "not for me" and that I should heed the "omens" my subconscious was giving me.

I almost gave in to these suggestions.

BUT

Then I remembered! I sat down on my cushion and went to my meditative level. I called on the resources available and asked for guidance and a solution for my situation. I realized then that "PERSEVERANCE" is absolutely not the same as "stubbornness" and that the temptation to give up was indeed not the solution I could accept. It would have been the easier way out. But it would also have left me in the same spot as before and not one inch further on the path. I came to the conclusion that these obstacles where in reality challenges. To overcome these in dealing with them would certainly bring me ahead. Maybe not immediately out of all difficulties but a step further.

The change in my view was necessary to look at my situation from a different angle and led me to recognize, that it is not as desperate as it seemed before. New ideas on how to work on improvement came up. Conversations, discussions and even disputes with friends and members of our sangha led to a list of possibilities not evident before.

Essential conclusion:

To give up = stagnation and finally regress

To persevere = development, change, progress

I think that this insight is valid not only for me.

I am convinced that it is equally valid for all, who are confronted with problems, obstacles, puzzles, uncertainties, and general unpleasantnesses.

Keep at it! Don't give up! Success is certain! Read More...

What Would He Say Today? Einstein in 2009

Albert Einstein is to this day considered one of the most brilliant men in history, his theories still seem to hold up to day in the scientific courts. Indeed, many of his own theories that he was skeptical of continue to amaze modern day scientists who are engaged in scientific experiments to get at those truths. Einstein is also one of the most quoted people in history ranking up there with Muhammad, FDR, Winston Churchill, Plato, Gandhi, Confucius and Sun Tzu.

The question recently posed at the Online Think Tank was, if Einstein were alive today, what would he think and what would he say? What words of wisdom would he depart on the economic situation, global economy, and modern day physics? If you look at many of his quotes he appears to have already predicted much of what is today, similar to the recently departed Arthur C Clarke predicted our future, which keeps unfolding nicely, right along with his major science fiction works.

Are we chasing Einstein's dream, Plato's Utopia and Arthur C. Clark's science fiction, or did they like Nostradamus simply study their history, watched for repeating patterns and come up with the plausible future based on mankind's dreams, imagination, and inspiration while factoring in humankind's flaws, perseverance and ignorance?

What would Einstein have said about this current election process? Would he have said something like; "Politics is no way to run mankind's affairs" or "Neither Capitalism or Communism is perfect, a hybrid of those and other theories maybe the answer?" Einstein in 2009, wouldn't it be great to peer once again into that mind? Read More...

Can Life Imbalance Contribute to Breast Cancer ?

Being diagnosed with breast cancer can be an incredible blow. Your life is literally turned upside down. You need to first face the fact that you have breast cancer and then face family with the news. Then, you have to go and see what treatment options (both conventional and alternative) are available as well as complementary options. In short, a very grueling process.

As most of us are aware there are four parts to what we call life. They are the same for each person regardless of who they are. These consist of: physical (body), mental (mind), spiritual (can include religion) and emotional.

Often times we know when we are out of balance in one or more of these areas due to the way we feel. But what we may not know are what the causes of this imbalance are. There are many different reason, but the primary one is stress. Be it stress from work, stress at home, or stress in family situations, this is the number one reason for us perhaps not eating properly or not getting enough exercise (physical).

Mental stress can be caused by things that you may not have control over such as traffic, the weather or people you come into contact with on a daily basis. Spiritual stress can be thought of as being out of touch with your god or feeling like your god is not listening to you or even that you have bad luck.

Emotional stress can be brought on by a combination of the above. Taken to the extreme, these stresses can cause us to do things that we normally know might be bad for us, such as overeating, eating the wrong thing, not being calm and lashing out at someone or even unconsciously hurting ourselves. And if the body is not in balance, then fighting off any disease is made that much harder.

The key is to know what is out of balance and to self-correct. Knowing yourself and how to avoid or negate your particular stressers can go along way to successful treatment. Read More...

If Barrack Obama Beat the Election, What's is The matter ?

Prior to the Democratic National Convention, Senator Barrack Obama's campaign had spent nearly half a billion dollars to win the democratic nomination. Then as he was nominated officially, he was nearly tied in a statistical heat with Senator John McCain. The John McCain expenditures to get nominated were very miniscule compared to Barack Obama's expenditures. Indeed, it was not even close.

Senator Barrack Obama's campaign even out spent Hilary Clinton's campaign by nearly 3:1 when it was all said and done, in fact, it was the largest amount of money spent on a Presidential Campaign in US History. Actually, it was the most money every spent by any candidate in the World to become elected, not even considering just being nominated.

The ability of the Barrack Obama campaign's public relations teams, advertising folks and campaign managers was incredible. Their fundraising machine was unbelievable and the help from other groups to promote him, was also very welcomed. Of course, what if Senator Barrack Obama is not elected, what if Senator John McCain wins the election? It is possible that by then Senator Barrack Obama's campaign could have spent 1 Billion Dollars.

Now statistically, spending that level of money to get elected means his probability of succeeding is very high. And it does not appear that Senator John McCain can match his stardom or ability to raise money, so he will most likely win, unless the campaign pushes too hard, spends too much and folks get tired of all the television ads and there is some sort of backlash. 10 Best Beat Stress Tips

Feeling anxious, weighted down? Feel like you just can't deal with the stress around you? Wishing the things that cause you to feel this way would just go away? Well, there's good news and bad news.

First the bad news - some of the things causing your stress are here for the long term. Others will go away, but be replaced by new distressing things.

Now the good news - even though you can't escape the fact that there will always be some stressor in your life, there are some basic things you can do to put yourself in a good position to handle stress that comes your way. And you can do your best to not be the source of your own stress!

1 - Get enough sleep

Something as simple as getting to bed at a decent hour is a great start. Recognize how much sleep you need to function well. Stress can cause a lack of sleep. Relax for a while before going to bed (and don't go to be right after watching the news). Caffeine and alcohol before bed are among the most common causes of insomnia. If you have health complications or are on medication, your doctor may be able to prescribe a different medication that won't interfere with sleep.

2 - Eat a healthy diet

Nutrition and stress are related. The greater the stress you're facing, the more good nutrition you need. Protein, B vitamins, C and A vitamins, magnesium are depleted when the body is in the fight or flight mode brought on by stress. Skipping meals, eating junk foods, having excessive caffeine can actually contribute to stress by making you feel worse. Poor eating habits lead to blood sugar issues, lowered immune system, and that "drained" feeling. Eat healthy snacks of fresh fruits and veggies along with healthy meals and a balanced nutritional supplement. You'll feel more energized and you will help yourself have the stamina to fight back at all the stress you encounter during your day.

3 - Underbook yourself

You need time to recover from daily stresses. Plan less things for yourself to do in a day. If you regularly plan 10 things and you're feeling overstressed, then start to plan 5 things a day for yourself instead. Learn to say "no". Watch your stress level decrease!

4 - Take a break

Do something fun. Laugh. It reduces the flow of stress hormones. It's amazing how a brisk 10-minute walk clears your head and gives you a fresh outlook. A 10-minute nap has been associated with increased energy, motivation, alertness, and concentration. Taking a break is not being lazy! You're refreshing your mind. You're relieving stress. Enjoy a good break every couple hours.

5 - Exercise

Exercise is one of the best ways to relieve stress. The more stressed you are, the greater the amount of exercise you need. When you exercise, mood-elevating endorphins are released into the blood stream. Break a sweat. You'll feel great. As the blood flow to the brain increases, it will "wash out the cobwebs". In addition, exercise promotes restful sleep.

6 - Declutter your space

Clutter reminds us of all we need to do. It gets worse as we waste precious minutes plowing through it to find our keys and important papers. Try setting a kitchen timer for 15 minutes, pick a spot and clean it up the best you can in that time. Stop when the timer goes off and plan to do the same tomorrow. Having a tidy environment is a great stress reliever.

7 - Pay your bills on time

Avoid the stress of late notices, extra charges, and your credit record being jeopardized. It takes a little organizing, so have a specific place to put all bills and pay bills every 2 weeks. Be sure to record in your checkbook and keep your checkbook up to date.

8 - Stop procrastinating

That means stop putting off till later what you need to be doing now. You know the end result of procrastination - feelings of guilt, inadequacy = increased stress levels.

Determine why you're procrastinating. Feeling overwhelmed by a project? Try doing little bits at a time. Are you avoiding something because it's unpleasant? Just do it! Waiting for just the right time? It usually doesn't come.

Fear of failure (or even success)? Visualize a good out come. Feel the need to be perfect? Set a deadline, do your best, and realize that your 80% could be someone elses' 100%! You'll always feel better when you do it and have one less thing on your mind.

9 - Think the best

When you expect bad things to happen, you are programming yourself to feel anxious, actually attracting and bringing on bad experiences. This can bring out the worst in you and in others. Choose the opposite. Believe good things are going to happen. You will attract good things. Of course, bad things happen to everyone, but keep looking for the good. You usually find what you look for.

Set your mind on things that are beautiful, noble, happy. Have a grateful attitude. In the worst of affairs, there's always something to be grateful for. Look for that. Say to yourself "Something good is going to happen to me!" Expect that to be true!

10 - Get help for life issues that are out of control

When life stresses are getting to an unhealthy level, seek help, buy a book on the subject, look it up on the internet, talk to a counselor, ask a friend for help, get professional help.

A certain amount of stress is normal. An unhealthy stress level over a period of time takes its toll on your body. How you prepare for facing stress and how you deal with it is the key. You might be surprised at how just a couple of life style changes can make all the difference in your stress level. Read More...

Is it Time to Fly?

Most people will get stuck into a routine which is not the best in the world. When we learn something new, we don't work as fast, and we need a lot of learning. But, as we do this, we find that we can go faster, and faster.

Over time, new opportunities come along, and we can easily miss them, because we get stuck in the confusion of those tasks that are in constant repetition. And what is worse, is that we can fool ourselves by believing we are making progress, when the true progress could be made, but is not.

You have likely heard a term similar to - spread your wings and fly or take a leap of faith. You may also have heard the term jump, and then grow wings.

All of these statements make sense. And they all deal with an important factor - opportunity. Opportunity is everything. We get lots of them in our lives, and it is truly an art and science to be able to see them, and will need experience and skills to make the most of them.

The truth is that most people don't see these opportunities. They may see one or two, but miss the countless opportunities in one day. Now a point, if you simply focus on opportunities, you will not get anywhere.

For example, everything has potential. From picture frames, to computers, and even recycling. However, our focus will determine just what we get out of them. Someone may use an iPod while traveling. While Steve Jobs likely spent day and night in the thinking and creation process.

Often we will see these opportunities, but not take action. This is where it is important to spread your wings and fly. You may make mistakes, you may fail, you may not know what to do next, but as you continue, you will find a way.

A door will open to you, and as you took faith, by spreading your wings, and trying to fly, you have done which 90% of other people will never do. And here is where success starts to happen.

Like the man who goes on pilgrimage, with hardly any money, and still manages to get to the destination, likewise, you will have a lot of question marks, lack of resources, etc. But, still you will find a way, and succeed - as soon as your spread your wings, and take a leap of faith to fly. To really see the power of positive thinking you have to believe in it. Perhaps you watched movies like "The Secret" and know that it can bring many positive things in your life. Everyone want to be happy, positive thinking can give to your life more colors and possibilities. Here are my top 5 useful tips to enjoy your life even more.

1. Affirmations are always a good way to tell to your subconscious mind positive phrases like: 'I can do it', 'It is very easy', It is possible' or some longer about your future goals. Affirmation can only work if you absolutely believe in it and repeat it quite often. Every time you are waiting for something or your mind is free try to repeat your affirmations.

2. Monitor your thoughts every day. I know it's impossible to monitor all your thoughts but those main ones. Try to measure amount of negative and positive thoughts that you cross through day. When you catch yourself of negative thought try to find the source of such thinking and transform it to positive. After time it will become automatic, when you will think about negative things, reminding bad events in past you will stop it. It can become very tiring at start as it's not too easy to reform pattern in your brain that cause creating negative thoughts. It takes some effort at start if you tend to attract to your mind negative thoughts.

3. Visualization is a powerful tool where you can experience the power of positive thinking. Visualization is amazing think if you can do it right. Think about future in positive way, pick what are your main goals and dreams, focus on them and think about how your life will look like than if you will achieve it. Be a daydreamer, everyday find few minutes to relax for a moment and flow to your dream world. In visualization key thinks is felling and emotions. You have to feel as you already achieve your goals and dreams.

4. Try to find every day 20-30 minutes to yoga, meditation or any other activity that can calm your mind. Stay then in positive attitude, enjoy the moment and relax. Positive thinking to any activity will bring you better results.

5. Everyday when you wake up tell to your mind, tell to yourself that it's going to be a great day. Nothing will disturb your positive attitude and you will achieve more than ever. The power of positive thinking is really powerful, practice it on daily basis and enjoy your life. Read More...

10 Things to Beat Negativity

Negative people. They're like vampire bats which suddenly come out of nowhere and just suck the life out of you. You try to stay positive but their negativity ends up just completely eating away at you, you feel exhausted, you feel spent and you may also start to feel negative too.

So what can you do about it? One of the first things to do is to be aware of who the negative people are in your life. You have to stay on the look out for them. This may not be as easy as you first think. You are going to really have to pay attention.

There are probably a lot of people in your life that are actually energy sucking human beings. When you are around them you experience a lot of ill feelings like unease, constriction. You will naturally feel unsafe and they will start draining your energy because that's what negativity does.

Pay attention to what people are saying. Is it always about how bad things are? Do they just pick out the worst and complain, never actually doing anything about all the terrible things that they bring to everyone else's attention?

Now that you know who and what to look for here are a few things you can do to protect yourself against them.

1. What is really bothering them?
Do you understand why this person is the way they are? Is it because they hate their job, hate their marriage, feel trapped in their life or do they hate themselves so much that they feel the need to take it out on other people? Some people really do want to make you feel as rotten as they do. Some people may see it as a way to get attention. It is like my dad told me "The popcorn gets the butter." They may think that if they whine and cry enough somebody may notice them...ahh poor baby. Negativity is a reflection of ones self..that doesn't have to be you.

2. Turn the cheek and walk away
When the negativity starts just turn your cheek and walk away. Just go and find something else to do, something positive. You will totally be turning a positive into a negative there. Don't let the negative person start to churn your emotions. The stirring of emotions is what is so draining. Have you ever had a huge argument with a spouse, friend or family member? Do you recall how draining it is on you?

3. Go away in your mind
Some times you may not be able to get away from it at all. But, just because you are there doesn't mean you have to be there. Take a trip in your mind when the negativity starts. As men we have pretty much mastered this technique when talking to our wives so why not do it when someone is telling you a sob story. Really, that's why we perfected the method. When they are done you can come back. Usually I spend a couple of more days on the beach.

4. Think about something funny
So you have this person whether intentionally or not are trying to bring you down. Sometimes I like to fight this with little Martians attacking them while they are talking to me. Not big nasty Martians but the little guy from Bugs Bunny. Yes, I know it sounds stupid but it sure does make me laugh. Imagine what ever you want but be careful if she is good looking...remember eyes above the neck boys.

5. Maybe it is time to find different people?
Sometimes you just have to cut the cord. If somebody is sucking the life energy out of you it may be time to find someone else to talk to or confide in. If it is a spouse, it may be time to get some counseling and let them know how it bothers you. Believe me though, if it is anyone else you don't need them. There are a lot of positive people out there you could spend you time with.

6. Don't let them bully you?
Negativity can come from a lot of different directions. I once worked at car dealership where everyone was so mean to each other. Now, I can take a joke and I can make a joke but these guys were brutal. It didn't bother me at all but I could tell some of the guys really go beat down by this behavior. If you are in one of these kinds of situations then there a couple of actions you can take. One, you can stand up for yourself. If it upsets you let them know it but be fore warned, if they smell blood it could be nasty. The other, move on and find a more enjoyable place to be.

7. Don't be the listener
Some people think that listening to others problems is a good character trait. I have dated women in the past that make the claim "I am a good listener" GREAT your a negativity pin cushion. Now I am not being insensitive at all. When people sit down to tell me a sob story I always ask "Can I respond to this?" I will always give advise and tell you how I feel. If you don't want me to release then I don't want to hear it. The way I see it, if they have problems then they need answers. If they don't need answers then they just want to bring me down.

8. Say something positive
This may be my sarcastic side but I like messing with negative people by killing them with kindness. If someone goes into a negative conversation I say things like "I love you" or "Your a beautiful person." This doesn't sound real funny but I am 6'2 and 240 lbs..it is pretty funny coming from a man of my stature.

9. AMP (Ain't My Problem)
Don't be the person that has to fix everybody. If you feel the need to fix people you very well could have some issues of your own. Everyone is responsible for their own lives. One persons problems don't have to become your as well. Fixing people means you have to take in their own negativity and that will just pistol whip you.

You don't have to be rude about it but just tell them you don't have time right now and maybe you can talk to them a little later. By then they will have already found someone else to suck the life out of. Better them then you right? Remember, you don't owe anything to anybody but you so don't fall into the guilt trap...just walk away.

10. Don't slip, stay positive
The best way to kill negativity is with positives. Stay up beat and maybe they will pick up on it. Negativity breeds negativity but being positive does the same exact thing but you just need a heavier dose of it.

Remember
There will always be negative people around you and you will never get away from it totally but just being able to identify it you will be able to react to it. It is just one more step to evolution. Read More...

Why You Need to Understand Yourself

Understanding yourself is a process and it is not easy. As you grow older and smarter, you will experience various roadblocks. I know how it feels when you're having roadblocks and oftentimes, you feel lost of a sudden. In fact, breaking these roadblocks or icebergs in life is tough. Roadblocks never ends and whether you like it or not, it runs in circles.

Now, if you want to live happily, you need to learn how to understand the inner walls of your personality. Understanding your own personality might be the most precious gift you can award to yourself when everything around you seems hopeless. You can never be perfect and anyone can be smarter than you but when you have understood yourself the way you want it, there's nothing in the world you can ask for.

Understanding yourself means accepting both your strengths and weaknesses. It is seeing your bigger self instead of parts. For instance, failing your science laboratory exam made you think that you're the biggest loser in the world. It's OK to feel lonely after a sad event. Failing an exam is only a part of your life and not the whole. Truth is, there's really more you can do than taking an exam. If you want to cry, just do it but never give up. You might feel unwell after failing an exam but life doesn't end there.

Accepting your weaknesses will take time and it doesn't mean that your weaknesses outshine your strengths, you're a loser. If you think that way, you will also feel that way but if you are going to do something about your weaknesses, that's what you call Life.

Life seems unpredictable. There are questions and expectations in our mind all the time. You can't free yourself from your sorrowful fate. There's nothing you can do about it and the more sorrows you have, the stronger you'll become in defeating them but no matter what, you can still choose to understand yourself. Studying the way you behave and making sound decisions is what our life is all about and whatever happens, you need to survive the odds. Read More...

Love Poem on Your Mind?

Love poem - looking to write one or maybe locate one? Whether you’re looking to find a love poem or write one – read a few tips below – writing a love poem is not as hard as you might think and the rewards aren’t easily measured.

A love poem is one of the most awesome ways to express love to that special person. Receiving a love poem is one of the greatest feelings in the world. Love poems need not be long, short, good, bad or ugly in order to work. Additionally, love poems are not very often used by men to express love.

First, a love poem does not need to be well written. Generally, women and men appreciate receiving a simple, thoughtful, from-the-heart, personalized love poem and could care less about its quality. In other words, just write it and give it to he/she – it need not be very good – she’ll/he’ll love it anyway.

Short and simple love poems work best for me. When I say short and simple, I’m talking about 8 to 10 lines. a love poem longer than that won’t get written. Pick out a few personal things about that special person and write cute little lines about it. Make it rhyme if you want, but don’t think too much about it – you won’t be able to write it.

Lastly, take a look at the love poem below – originally written for my wife. It’s cute, simple, from-the-heart and takes no talent to write. Also, I could care less whether it’s a “proper” poem from a “poetry” perspective. Don’t worry about studying “poetry” or writing a poem “correctly”. Forget all that stuff you learned in school and just write. After all, the point is to express love to that special someone – not win a poetry award. Give it a try – you will not regret it. Vision is Your Key to Victory

As a success coach, I am often challenged to help people develop vision that sees the invisible and believes that anything is possible. When I think of vision, I am reminded of a child who has an imaginary friend. With their imaginary friend in tow, that child pursues situations and obstacles with a consistent confidence and enthusiastic expectation that is unparalleled in the world today. I often wonder why our minds don't allow us to think and act as children when it comes to taking the necessary risks and faith walks to live an incredible life filled with dream fulfillment and passion, abundance, confidence and expectation.

As adults, we don't believe in imaginary friends, but when you have vision, you see possibilities and results that are not visible to others. Being a visionary is an important key to becoming the Incredible You. When you have vision, you have victory. One of my favorite personal statements that I created when I first started working with other people as a success coach was "if you can see the invisible, God can do the impossible, so dream the Incredible." When I say this statement each day, I am focusing on helping people to become visionaries for their lives and the lives of their family members. Situations are changed because of vision. Nothing great in this life was ever accomplished without vision. Think of anyone that you admire in this world. No matter whom they are and how significant their triumph, they possessed an uncanny ability to see the invisible and do the impossible, otherwise, you would not look up to them.

When you have the foresight to see those things that do not exist currently but know in your heart, mind and spirit that they will come to pass, you are becoming a visionary, much like the people you admire. No vision is too small and I admonish you not to compare your triumphs with that of others as we are all on an individual journey. Visionaries think outside of the box. Visionaries are able to do things a little differently to get a victorious result. Visionaries never give up because they don't know what is coming around the next corner. It is always too early to throw in the towel on your hopes, dreams and desires.

Vision is the key to maximizing and unlocking your potential. Not a visionary? Make a non-negotiable decision that the time is now to receive the victory in your life. You can be a visionary as soon as you realize that all that it takes is for you to be able to say right now that you are able to accomplish that which you desire to do. If you can see it, it can be a reality. Do you have faith and believe that you can do anything that you put your mind to? In this time of economic downturn, vision is looking at your checkbook and getting excited because the money is on the way. Although you can't see it now, you have full knowledge and belief that you possess what it takes to move from victim to visionary. If you want to have victory, you have to be optimistic. Is your glass half full? When your glass is half full, you are closing in on your victory. When you are able to see clearly those things which do not yet exist, you are walking in a liberating victory because those dreams, goals and desires are just an action away from becoming reality and catapulting you into a personal triumph.

Having vision is pivotal if you want to achieve anything in life. So think, see and then do. You can do it, Incredible One. I believe in you. The Incredible You is waiting; he or she is standing just behind your vision.

Dreams Can Come True

What are your dreams? What makes you feel energized? When are you going to get around to making them come true?

We all have dreams, some big some small, but they remain only wishes or fantasies until we have the courage to take steps toward achieving them. They can come true no matter how wild or outlandish you may think they are, but only if you take that first step to make them a reality. There is energy in everything, and dreams are no exception. To ramp up the energy of your dreams there are six guidelines you can use to REAL-ize those dreams.

1. Set Your Intention. Get clear on what it is you want. Dreams can be vague and general. If this is something you really want to make happen, the possibility increases if you have a very clear vision of as many aspects of the dream as possible. 'I want to travel', is very different than, 'In the next year I want to travel to Italy and see the Vatican City'. And even better yet is to frame it in the present tense with as much feeling attached as possible such as 'I am standing in the centre of Vatican City marvelling at the view, listening to the Pope deliver Easter Sunday Mass. The more detail the better. Use your intentions to set the course of your dreams as well as your life.

2. Know you deserve it. Be compassionate with yourself. Do you feel excited, "jazzed" every time you think about living your dream? Then you deserve it! Don't let that voice of self doubt tell you otherwise. Does your dream align with your life purpose? Your Purpose is nothing more than a joyous expression of who you are. Notice what excites you versus what drains you. If your dreams are in alignment with your purpose, there is nothing left to do but to "go for it!"

3. Keep the Dream in Focus. You are more likely to manifest your dream if you keep it in focus. Have a picture, or some other reminder somewhere you will see it at least daily. It is easier to keep a dream in focus if you pick one dream at a time to put your efforts into. It is hard to keep a clear focus on many dreams at one time. Why not share your dream with someone you trust? Most won't take this shortcut step because if you tell someone your dream, they might expect you to do something about it. If you feel you aren't ready to share your dream, what is holding you back?

4. Visualize. Taking a few moments each day to reinforce your dream helps to make it more real in your mind. While visualizing consider how you will feel when your dream is a reality - Don't spend too much time visualizing a few minutes each day, as too much time devoted to visualization can take away from living in the present moment. What you want to accomplish by visualizing is making the dream as clear and well defined as possible. In your mind you want to be able to feel what you will feel, see what you will see, once your dream is your reality.

5. Take action. What are some of the steps you can take today to make your dream a reality? Prove that your dream is a priority by making time for it and taking powerful steps forward. If it is a trip you want to go on then you can start by researching your dream destination. Instead of just reading about it make some decisions about what you will do when you go, what landmarks will you plan to visit, what will need to happen in your life for this to become a reality? When doubts start to arise, which they almost always do at some point, just consider them, if they seem like barriers take a moment to consider how others might get around those barriers, what would it take for it not to be a barrier? Such as, if finances are the barrier you see, then start to visualize having more than enough money to cover the costs rather than spending a lot of time feeling upset at the lack, spend time feeling grateful for what is coming to you... you don't always need to understand how that will happen. That is not to say that you never have to take actions that will help to solve the barriers but to not spend time worrying about how they will be resolved.

6. Have faith. Faith means believing in something when there is no logical explanation to support the belief. Isn't that what dreaming is all about? It wouldn't be a dream if it was just the usual way life was expected to unfold. It is a dream because it is bold and different and exciting!

Whether your dream is for a new career, a new relationship, a vacation or a whole different lifestyle, set your intention, know you deserve it, focus, visualize, take action and have faith. Read More...

How Do I?

To Be Wronged Is Nothing Unless You Continue To Remember It!

This Is a thought that should be in the back of your mind with each happening that occurs throughout your day.

People are continuously asking me:

how do I......

-feel better about myself?
-get over this hurt and loneliness feeling?
-stop these insecure feelings?
-stop comparing myself to others?
-find a healthy balance in my life?
-stop over eating?
-find happiness in my relationship?
-find a perfect partner?
-find a desire to move forward?
-stop old memories from ruining my present life?
-be a better person?
-fit into the 'normal' mold expected of me?
-stop worrying?
-see life through a glass half full as opposed to half empty?
-find sexual joy with my partner again?
-stop my partners addictions?

I can go on and on with the 'how do I's' in life.

I cannot do the walk for you, but I sure can help you draw out your map. In my own life and experiences of the 'How Do I's', I have worked very hard at finding answers to all of these weights that pull us down every day.

Life is life...we are all born with similar tools and we are all given a fairly good start.

What we do with our lives is really our own choices...our choices are up to us....we choose which way to go in our map of life.

Yes...it is that simple.

So there you have it....basically where you are right now in your mind is where you have chosen to be.

Some will say...pills are needed...therapy is needed....hmmmm!

Pills lead into more pills and in the end only succeed in clouding ones mind of the reality they need to find a certain clarity.

Therapy seems to also lead into nothing but more therapy and confusion in more cases than not. Oh then we also have that unjustified cost attached to the time involved.

These so called cures would be more helpful if they were used as a temporary support, not as a new way of life, which unfortunately happens to most that take either route to happiness.

An addiction or even a dependency is what ends up evolving.

So what are you left with?

You are left with your own mind and your own choices. It always comes down to one person at the end of the day.

When you are falling asleep, the only person in your thoughts is YOU.

When you wake up in the morning, the only person in your thoughts is YOU.

You determine which way to think.
You determine what you feel.
You are the only person responsible for how you feel.
You know that happy is so much better and full-filling than sad.
You determine what words will be allowed to remain in your thoughts.
You are the key to your self-esteem and self-worth being healthy.

When it starts to rain, you know enough to get an umbrella to stay dry.
When you feel cold, you reach for a sweater to stay warm.
When a noise is hurting your ears, you turn it down.
When you see someone crying or hurting, you have immediate positive advice for comforting them.
When you feel sick, you call in to cancel your plans, whether it be work, school or a social outing.
Now with all of these situations, you have no problem taking responsibility of choosing the right thoughts or actions.

So why is it that we....

- fall into very bad habits of taking the hard way around?
- hold onto hurt and pain?
- want to hang onto the victim roles?
- allow our negative thoughts override our positive thoughts?
- allow what others think of us matter more than what we think of ourselves?
-preoccupy so much of our very limited time allowing sadness and memories determine our day?
-work harder at staying down then getting back up?
-sign up for all the pity parties we can find?
-look to blame anyone else for our shortcomings or downfalls?

The toughest step in reaching that happier more balanced you is to truly accept the fact that it is YOU that is the key.

Once you can actually conceive this fact, then you will be able to use your mind and your choices to move forward.

We have already determined and agreed that:

-you know whats right from wrong.
-you know how to think.
-you can react positively when necessary.
-you can choose your thoughts to determine your feelings.

So what are you waiting for now.

You have the answer..it is YOU.

It is not your partner, your parents, your children and most certainly not the media that determines your happiness and self-acceptance.

It is YOU!!!!
This is the first day in the mind of YOU!
The YOU that will make the positive choices of thought.
The YOU that will not allow the past or negative remarks determine how your day will be.
This is the first day in the mind of YOU.
You can accomplish your own happiness, if you choose to! Read More...
